Room To Breathe
Frameworks For Growth is a creative wellness studio and therapeutic arts practice dedicated to guiding people toward healthier, fuller lives. We use creative practices to support emotional well-being, clarity, and growth, especially for those carrying the weight of the world, navigating change, or stepping into a new chapter of life.
Our approach honors each story, nurturing resilience and empowering meaningful change from the inside out.

The Creative Anatomy of Change
Where neuroscience and creativity meet.
At Frameworks For Growth, our approach is grounded in research from neuroscience, psychology, social work, and public health. Creativity is not leisure it’s a proven intervention that activates the brain’s ability to adapt, regulate stress, and grow.
-
Neuroscience → Art-making engages multiple brain networks, reduces stress, and strengthens focus and adaptability.
-
Social Work → Rooted in cultural humility and trauma-informed practice, our approach restores authentic voice, supports autonomy, and builds peer connection.
-
Public Health → Designed to reduce isolation and stigma, our programs promote resilience and wellbeing at both personal and organizational levels.
-
Psychology → Encourages insight, emotional regulation, and trust in the creative process.
The Creative Anatomy of Change Process Framework™
[Spark Curiosity → Meet The Challenge →Enter Flow → Gain Insight]
-
Spark Curiosity – Experiment and explore new perspectives through art.
-
Meet the Challenge – Stretch gently beyond what you thought was possible; build trust in your own voice and community.
-
Enter Flow – Quiet mental noise and access a state of ease, focus, and renewal.

This is creative work that doesn’t just feel good—it’s grounded in science, and it shifts how people think, feel, and show up in life, in leadership, and in community.

Toya Northingon
Founder & Creative Wellness Director
“The pain didn’t disappear; it became a path that led me to my purpose.”
— Toya Northington
Hi, I’m Toya.
Frameworks for Growth didn’t come from a textbook or a trend. It grew out of my life from grief, caregiving, and the need to make meaning from those experiences.
As a child, my mother gave me art and journaling to help me express what I couldn’t say out loud. I’ve carried that lesson into my work with teens, elders, and communities moving through change, loss, and resilience. I’ve seen what happens when someone rediscovers wonder. When they say, “I didn’t know I needed this.”
Frameworks is the result of a lifetime of listening: to stories, to silence, and to what art can reveal. I created Frameworks to share this with others so they can also experience the power of art. If you’ve ever felt your story was too layered, your voice too quiet, or your healing too tender for traditional spaces, this work was made with you in mind.

“I have worked with Toya on multiple projects utilizing arts-based interventions to promote mental health and community connectedness. Toya is a thoughtful, welcoming, and creative community practitioner. She blends art and mental health support seamlessly, building on individual and community assets and values to harness the natural power of relationships, self expression, and affirmation.”
Lesley Harris., PhD.
As a professor, researcher, and social worker, my work with Toya Northington has been transformational. She has single-handedly shaped my skill set as a community-based participatory action researcher who engaged in arts-based methods. I have been able to utilize these lessons and implement global projects, such as working with youth affected by HIV in Vietnam and organizing large-scale art advocacy exhibitions in Seoul, South Korea. Toya is brilliant, thoughtful, creative, kind...a true artist and visionary in all the work that she does.
